Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about tree removal, trimming, and emergency services in Central Minnesota.
How much does tree removal cost?
Tree removal cost varies based on size, location, and complexity. Small trees (under 30 ft) typically range from $300-$800. Medium trees (30-60 ft) run $800-$2,500. Large trees (60+ ft) or crane removals can range from $2,500-$10,000+. We provide free, detailed estimates for every job.
Do you offer emergency tree removal?
Yes, we provide 24/7 emergency tree removal service throughout Central Minnesota. If a tree has fallen on your home, vehicle, or is blocking access, call (763) 807-3131 immediately. We prioritize emergency calls and dispatch crews as quickly as possible.
Are you insured?
Absolutely. Platinum Tree Services carries comprehensive general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage. We provide certificates of insurance upon request for all commercial and residential projects.
How long does tree removal take?
Most residential tree removals are completed in one day. Small trees may take 2-4 hours, while large crane removals can take a full day. Multi-tree projects may span 2-3 days depending on scope. We provide estimated timelines during the estimate.
What about stump removal?
Stump grinding is included as an optional add-on to tree removal. We grind stumps 6-12 inches below ground level, allowing you to replant grass or landscaping. Stump grinding pricing is based on stump diameter.
When is the best time to trim trees in Minnesota?
Late winter (February-March) is ideal for most species. Trees are dormant, wounds heal quickly in spring, and the tree structure is visible. NEVER trim oak trees between April 15 and July 1 due to oak wilt risk. Summer pruning should be limited to deadwood and emergency work.
Do you handle commercial tree work?
Yes, we work with property managers, HOAs, and commercial property owners throughout Central Minnesota. We provide detailed estimates, flexible scheduling, and comprehensive documentation for your records.
What is included in cleanup?
All tree debris, logs, and brush are removed from your property unless you request to keep firewood. We chip branches and haul everything away, leaving your yard clean. Stump grinding debris (wood chips) can be removed or left as mulch, your choice.
How do I know if my ash tree has emerald ash borer?
Look for D-shaped exit holes in the bark (about 1/8 inch), canopy dieback starting at the top, bark splitting, woodpecker damage, and new shoots growing from the trunk. If you suspect EAB, call us for a free assessment. Central Minnesota is heavily infested.
Can you work near power lines?
Yes, but with important limitations. For trees touching or very close to power lines, we coordinate with your utility provider. We NEVER work on trees in direct contact with live power lines ourselves—that requires the utility company. For trees near but not touching lines, we take extra safety precautions.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes, all estimates are completely free with no obligation. We visit your property, assess the trees, discuss your goals, and provide a detailed written quote. Most estimates are completed within 24-48 hours of your request.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. Payment is typically due upon completion of work. For large commercial projects, we can arrange payment terms.
